The Future Cities Institute works with its government, industry and academic partners to identify opportunities for economic development using digital strategies that drive job creation, entrepreneurship and innovation growth in cities.
We help deliver on these opportunities by facilitating the design and development of specific collaborative programs for local economies, and coordinating their delivery with our institute members and partner organisations.
This mission to drive growth in regional economies aligns strongly with the United Nation’s global agenda for sustainable development from 2015 through 2030, which the UN General Assembly articulated in a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seeking to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.
So at Future Cities we seek to apply the unique assets that an NGO of our scope and scale has towards the global, multi-sector effort needed to achieve these SDGs, and we know that each of the United Nation’s goals present challenges bigger than any one organization, or even one sector of society, can accomplish alone!
For this this reason, we have created the “Sustainable Development Networks” program where we partner with governments, educators, scientists and industry to help mobilize global scientific and technological expertise in specific SDG topics using a collaborative innovation approach to support practical problem solving and create innovative solutions for sustainable economic and social development.
Together with our collaborative partners we will increase the pace, breadth, and depth of innovation in SDG topics such as Sustainable Cities and help create greater access to and exchange of collaborative innovation ideas, expertise, skills, patterns, practices, and technologies.
